We are all at least vaguely familiar with Martin Seligman’s famous 1965 experiment with the dogs and the learned helplessness thing.
Long story short, he put some doggies in a room and shocked the crap out of em but provided no means of escape. I’m not sure where PITA was on this one. Probably annoying a Republican somewhere.
They kept trying to escape, but they eventually learned that it was useless.
After a certain amount of time, Martin "Puppy Punisher" Seligman opened up a door so as to provide a means of escape for the poor pups.
And then he zapped them again.

None of them tried to escape. Though the deliverance from their pain was staring them right in the face…they simply did not believe. They had learned that they were helpless, so they didn’t even try.
Now, the fact that this is analogous to the spiritual, emotional, physical, and financial state of the average human being in this world is fascinating enough in and of itself. But it’s not nearly as fascinating as this next little known fact about the experiment.
It’s funny because when you read about it it’s almost like an afterthought, when in my opinion it is the most profound aspect of the entire thing.

With all the poor little helpless puppies huddled in the middle of the room, trembling, trapped, and scared to move, they sent a healthy puppy in through the open door who ran around the other puppies a little (probably trying to play with them and wondering what their problem was) and then ran right back out the open door…
And a couple of the dogs who had previously been conditioned to stay put, followed his lead and ran out right behind him.

You need to become whole, and strong, and courageous because other puppies need your strength, pal. This world is filled with hurting puppies (people) who need hope desperately. They are dying for something to believe in. Aching for proof that there is something more than what they have previously experienced. Yearning for freedom.
Your mere presence in their lives is proof that they can do it too. NOTHING motivates, teaches, and inspires like a good example.
It’s been said that a good example is the ONLY viable means of teaching.
You have two choices:
1. Be proof to the world that life does indeed suck as bad as they always feared it does, and therefore be a negative vibration in the sea of humanity.
Or
2. Be proof that the the world’s wildest dreams are indeed possible, therefore setting the captives free.
There is nothing in between. You are either impressing people positively or negatively. You are helping or hurting. You are going backwards or forwards. You are going to heaven or you are going to hell.
